HOW DO I REGISTER MY CHILD FOR ISGVF’S WEEKEND ISLAMIC SCHOOL?

The Registrations for the academic year 2013-2014 has been closed.

WHEN CAN I REGISTER MY CHILD(REN)?

The registration deadline for new students is August 31 Insha’Allah, for the academic session September to June.

WHAT ARE THE AGE REQUIREMENTS?

The minimum age of the student is 5 years and the maximum is 18 on September 1 of the year of enrollment.

HOW IS WEEKEND SCHOOL SET UP?

The Weekend School has two Saturday Sessions for levels KG and level 1 to 4. The first session is held from 8:30 to 10:30 AM and second session from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Generally Saturday Students range from ages 5 to 10. The two sessions have been created to accommodate increasing children enrollment. Both sessions have identical curriculum but different volunteer teachers. Sunday Session is for levels 5 to High School. Sunday Students range from ages 11 to 18. Currently, there is only one session on Sunday. The second session on Sunday will be established as need arises.

WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION FOR EACH SESSION?

The Weekend School hours are between 8:30 AM to 2 PM.

WHAT IS THE CURRICULUM?

For the Islamic Studies classes the school follows the Weekend School Learning Series curriculum published by IQRA. Quran classes on Saturday follow the Arabic Writing for Beginners curriculum. Quran classes on Sunday have curriculum determined by the teacher to suit needs of their respective students. Additionally students are taught Fiqh, Islamic History and translation of the Quran.

WHAT IS YOUR STUDENT TEACHER RATIO?

The Saturday Session has a student teacher ratio of 8:1 (classrooms with a teaching assistant, may accommodate two additional students). The Sunday Session has a student teacher ratio of 10:1.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A CLASS IS FULL?

New students eligible for a class which has already reached its maximum space allowance will be placed on a waiting list. If enrollment in the given level/class open up, we will fill space in the order in which names were placed on the waiting list, Insha’Allah. The Weekend School Admin does try to accommodate parent’s preference of enrollment between two Saturday sessions but does not guarantee it.

DO YOU HAVE AN ATTENDANCE POLICY?

The School requires and expects full attendance. More than two consecutive unexcused absences may result in suspension from School for the remainder of the academic session. School Fees are nonrefundable including book supplies.
